2012 Single Quinta Port Declaration

From a vintage described as 'The Viticultural Year', these Ports are available in limited allocations only.

What is Single Quinta Port?

A Single Quinta Port is produced from a Port house's finest single estate in a single year, one that is not usually declared as a 'true' vintage. Made very much in the same way as 'true' vintage port - aged for 2/3 years in cask before bottling without filtration but the ports will be ready 8-10 years after harvest and will happily live for 15-20 years. Whilst Single Quinta Ports may not enjoy the prestige, ageability or investment potential of Ports from declared years, the real beauty is that they represent incredible value and a true taste of the Douro terroir. Most importantly, as this style of Port matures more quickly than 'true' vintage port, you can enjoy a delicious, good quality port without having to wait decades!

Why should you buy 2012?

We firmly believe that these ports offer excellent fruit quality, style and value for money and what's more you won't have to wait 50 years to drink them as they're so fruit forward now! Here's what Adrian Bridge, CEO of The Fladgate Partnership (the company that looks after the famous Taylor's, Fonseca and Croft port houses) had to say about the vintage and the ports;

"The 2012s are showing wonderfully pure, vibrant fruit which often results from a cool ripening season giving the wines remarkable elegance and poise. Vargellas has attractive crisp acidity and expresses the Vargellas terroir with great precision. Roeda is particularly elegant and has seductive ripe fruitiness which is the hallmark of this great estate. The signature fruit quality of the Guimaraens Vintage is very much in evidence in the 2012 vintage and the relatively cool ripening conditions give it an attractive freshness and elegance. These wines are ripe and mature and offer consumers the opportunity to purchase Vintage Ports for early drinking."

Which ports are available?

The Fladgate Partnership have released three 2012 Single Quinta Ports. We've uploaded full details, tasting notes and information on each of these, just scroll through the booklet below;
