Ara Wines, Marlborough

A huge estate that is only producing Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The young winemaking team are getting to grips with the vineyard management which is leading to better quality of fruit coming into the winery. The vineyard is planted to high density in a European style. The winemaking philosophy is for lightness of touch to allow the fruit to express itself and produce elegant wines with a subtle point of difference.
Sauvignon Blanc 2011 – Selected Blocks
Broad ripe citrus fruits with delicate tropical fruits. Great balance and a long finish.

Resolute SB 2011
Wherever else the winemaker has been given free reign to produce an expression of the estate, they have normally thrown new oak at the delightful Marlborough fruit. Resolutely not here! Intense restrained citrus fruits, fabulous minerality, an explosion of tropical fruits on the finish.

Pinot Gris 2011
Not many producers have nailed this wine in the way Jeff Clark has. Ripe, spicy, minerally
fruits, lovely mouth texture and a long spicy pear fruit finish. Fabulous!

We tasted three Pinot Noirs, none of which are currently available in the UK. We look forward to
seeing these wines when they arrive in the UK.
