White Rioja that has been barrel aged, in this case for 4 years in American oak, is a completely different beast to young white Rioja. For those that love this, it is rare and fascinating with a complex and developed flavour profile, serious richness and wonderful acidity. The beeswax, quince and honeycomb aromas intrigue you into the glass which is reassuringly fresh and full of almond, apricot and honeysuckle flavours. A wine that truly excites some palates but won't be for everyone. Drink with all types of fish.
