Who is the course aimed at?

  • Those with little of no previous knowledge who would like a sound but simple level of product knowledge either to assist with work within hospitality, retail or wholesale or simply for their own interest in the subject.
Topics covered in the course include:
  • Factors that influence wine style
  • Characteristics, style and quality of principle grape varieties
  • Key countries and regions
  • Sparkling wine methods and styles produced in key countries
  • Sweet and fortified wine methods and styles produced in key countries
  • Principles and methods used in international spirits
  • Storage, selection and service of wine
  • WSET Level 2 systematic approach to tasting (approx 46 wines to taste)
How long is the course?
  • Three full days = 16 hours tuition (see available courses below)
  • Minimum of 10 hours home study is required
  • At the end of the course there is a 60 minute closed book multiple choice official examination

  • Tuesday 3rd April, Tuesday 10th April & Tuesday 17th April
