Philip says

A much-acclaimed winery in the heart of the Veneto run by Tommaso Bussola, his wife Danielle and their sons Paolo and Giuseppe. The story of Tommaso Bussola begins in Valpolicella in 1977, the year Tommaso began working at the small wine estate of his uncle Giuseppe. Tommaso faithfully followed in the footsteps of the traditionalists, respecting the time-honoured practices of barrel ageing. His drive to continually improve quality at the winery led to his first solo vinification in 1983 - and he began to personally look after the selection of grapes destined for the production of Amarone and Recioto. The new wines were baptised with the label "TB" (his initials) and the innovative style we enjoy today was born.

Amarone Vigneto Alto is the very top level wine. To make it Tommaso sources grapes from a vineyard site in the heart of Valpolicella: Vigneto Alto, 260m altitude, 1.6 hectares of vines, average age 40 years, trained in the traditional pergola style. No chemical treatments are used in the vineyard, and only the best grapes are picked by hand. Made from the finest fruit and aged in new oak. Production is small and the price is high, but it is wonderfully perfumed and the depth and concentration is truly magnificent.
