Our friends in the South African wine industry really need support right now.

The South African government banned all sales of alcohol for three months during lockdown, consequently the wine industry has suffered great financial and job losses. The ban on domestic sales was lifted but has been reinstated so South Africa is the only wine producing country in the world unable to sell wine in their homeland. Exports are now open though so we can show our support by buying their wines, so please #drinksouthafrican where you can.

We've put together this 6 bottle case of South African wines featuring a mixed selection (3 whites, 3 reds) of excellent wines from small family owned wineries that we've been working with for years, have visited and class as friends! We're doing our bit by discounting the case by almost £10 to encourage you to order. You can also view our full range of South African wines here.

The case includes:

Sauvignon Blanc Circumstance Waterkloof 2019

Look at this as South Africa's answer to Pouilly Fumé - a renowned French Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley. Big and textured with an abundance of rich stone fruit and plenty of refreshing minerality. It's such an interesting glass of wine, so well balanced and as bracing as the wind through the vines at the Waterkloof estate.

Chardonnay Premium Vergelegen 2018

There's a lot of class here for the money, much more than you'd be lead to believe for its price tag. Bright citrus fruit balanced by creamy vanilla and butterscotch flavours tied together by a clean, zesty finish that makes you want that second glass. Absolutely gorgeous with roasted poultry or grilled seafood.

Bonfire Hill Extreme Vineyards White 2018

Winemaker Trizanne Barnard has years of international winemaking experience. Her passion lies in the Western Cape, making wines sourced from the most extreme vineyards and blending them to perfection. The result here is a downright delicious white! Welcome to complex, ripe aromas of citrus and peach, backed up by a sprinkling of fresh thyme and vanilla. The aromas introduce rich, moreish, juicy stone fruit with a crunchy, refreshing feel. Mouthfilling, delicious and succulent. Enjoy with light seafood dishes.

Meerlust Estate Red 2017

This is a classic blend of Cabernet and Merlot, produced in limited quantities on the historic and famous Meerlust Estate in Stellenbosch. The intense aromas of black fruits invite you into the glass which is complex, full bodied, rich and opulent with concentrated fruit flavours and a long aftertaste. Drink with steak.

Cabernet Sauvignon First Lady Warwick Estate 2017

Warwick use their vibrant younger vines for this energetic red; these grapes deliver a wine that is full of life and every bit a high class Cabernet without all the weight and seriousness of old age. It's certainly full of flavour with cherries, dark chocolate, blackberry jam and liquorice with a twist of leather at the end. Delicious with mushroom risotto, BBQs or steak.

Pinotage Cellar Selection Kleine Zalze 2018

* This wine is temporarily unavailable - we will replace with an alternative Pinotage from South Africa.

This is a solid example of Pinotage, arguably South Africa's signature red grape variety. Fruity and rich with plum, violet, mulberry and black fruit aromas and a mellow, silky smooth mouthful of soft black fruit flavours.

This is a set selection and unfortunately cannot be altered in anyway. Should a wine be unavailable we may substitute with a suitable alternative.
