2011 Vintage Port

Report and offer

There have been a lot of smiles whenever I have spoken to any port producer in the last couple of years about the 2011 vintage, and it was the world’s worst kept secret that on St George’s Day 2013 it was announced there would be a Vintage Port Declaration!

In the notes (see below) from all the Port Houses we are offering, you will read all the reasons why 2011 was declared a vintage, so I won’t go over those details. What I would say is that the ports are superb and this is not sales hype! I am sure we are not going to have to try too hard to sell these wines, because they really are that good! Coupled with the fact that 2011 is a small harvest, we will have to allocate some of the ports so please do not deliberate too long if you would like some.

A recent tasting of the majority of ports declared was a fabulous experience, power, intensity, concentration, great structure and balance. These are big wines, but with a wonderful suppleness. They will age for a long time and produce fabulous drinking for many years to come.

We will be holding a tasting of the 2011 ports on Wednesday 29th May, 5pm-7pm at the shop. Do come along and taste these great wines - please let us know if you wish to come and taste.

You can also watch a short video on just how good these ports are here.

I have stated this is a vintage with great quality but the quantities are really small, so if you are interested in buying some of these fabulous wines, please return your order as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Please also note that the prices we have quoted are the prices you will pay per bottle, unlike a number of other merchants we are not issuing our pricing excluding Duty and VAT.
