Dessert recipe: Chocolate torte

Chocolate Torte

Recipe by Cloisters Bistro, Stamford
Makes an 8 inch cake - share as you like!

  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 1tbspn strong coffee (espresso)
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 150g salted butter
  • 5 eggs separated
  • 100g ground almonds
  • Mascarpone cream or ice cream to serve
  1. Melt together the chocolate and butter.
  2. Add in the sugar, almonds, coffee and egg yolks.
  3. Meanwhile whisk the egg whites until soft peaks form.
  4. Fold the egg whites into the chocolate mix.
  5. Bake at 150c for around 25 minutes.
  6. Serve with mascarpone cream or ice cream.
