Located in the south east of the Montalcino region, the estate of Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona dates back to the 17th century. They have a total of 220 hectares of vines in the rolling Tuscan hills bordered by the Orcia River which helps moderate the temperature of this hot dry part of the region. 53 hectares are devoted to the wonderful Sangiovese grape together with small amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. This is a blend of all four grape varieties, the result being a fruity, lightly herbal red enriched by hints of spice. Full bodied yet soft and well balanced, this is drinking beautifully now particularly with charcuterie or bbq food.
