Another exceptional Reserva from Valenciso – released 10 years after the vintage, following maturation in a combination of concrete and Russian oak. With a meticulous approach to quality in the vineyard, the team at Valenciso have made only 4000 bottles of this. The best bunches of Tempranillo grapes were selected from an outstanding 75 year old vineyard at 625m altitude. The wine was fermented and matured in concrete for 5 years, followed by maturation in Russian oak for 45 months (20% new) before being bottled. The long ageing in concrete has aided the freshness and it still has a bright ruby colour belying its 10 years of age. Complex balsamic notes, intense black fruit, fine grained beautifully polished tannins and incredible freshness. A good match with lamb, beef and game.
