Au Bon Climat has been making balanced, food friendly Chardonnays since 1982. Even in the early 2000s when ripe oaky Chardonnays were all the rage, Au Bon Climat stuck to a more subtle and refined style, with minerality and intensity.
A beautiful example of their style, the flinty, stony aromas stand out against clove and nutmeg from barrel ageing. Flavours of citrus and stone fruits finished with a lemon/lime zest note. Intense but light on its feet and built to compliment rather than over power food. Drink young with shellfish or poultry, or it will evolve over the next 10 years then enjoy with mushroom pasta or any lighter creamy pasta dish.
