Since 2000, winemaker and owner Bruwer Raats has focused on two grape varieties, Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. This wine is a fantastic example of what can be acheived with the great Cabernet Franc grape. On the nose you’ll find a leafy aroma, damson fruit and a hint of spice. Flavour-wise, rich red cherries and dark berries mixed with herbs, all delicately spiced and wrapped up in a soft, juicy mouthfeel.
We tried it with a soft camembert cheese during a wine & cheese evening, and the mushroom like character of the cheese was a great contrast to the red berry crunch in the wine. It would also be lovely paired with roasted pork.
