Sacred Hill’s Deerstalker Vineyard is in the heart of Gimblett Gravels, a much acclaimed sub region of Hawkes Bay in New Zealand. The climate here is warm and temperate, ideal for growing Syrah grapes. This wine is one of their special selection reds that is only made in outstanding vintages, when the growing conditions are as close to perfection as nature allows.
With a little bottle age, this has grown into a truly magnificent wine that wowed us when we tried it. There’s concentrated black forest fruits, a herby and spicy twist, savoury edge, divine silky texture and fine tannins. It’s polished and proper Syrah. The perfect partner to Sunday lunch roast beef or a Saturday night steak. Drinking well now, or over the next 5 years. Allow up to one hour in the decanter.
