The Zahel family winery has a long and proud history in Vienna and current ower, Alex Zahel, very much preserves and builds upon that history. Alex makes quite a few Gemischter Satz, a wine made from a variety of grapes grown, harvested and fermented together, and he makes some of the very best available. This is an absolute star made biodynamically from a blend of Weissburgunder (aka Pinot Blanc), Chardonnay and Neuburger. It’s got good weight, good richness, is incredibly well balanced and has ripe exotic fruits, fresh pear and crunchy green apple flavours. For a great pairing, try with belly pork with toasted fennel seeds.
