Somewhat Known is a project in conjunction with Wildeberg, a highly rated winery in Franschoek. The winemaker, Jd Roussouw, is very talented; this Chardonnay is the definition of a wine where oak has been perfectly used to enhance the wine, rather than overpower it. It’s elegant and complex. The aromas are full and toasty, whilst the palate is packed full of pure fruit flavours, with the oak adding lovely creaminess and richness.
Only available in tiny quantities as just one barrel of this wine was made… the oak barrel JD used was a ‘demi-maud Stockinger’, considered the best in the world! A truly great wine for under £20.
