Marsala is a famous fortified wine from the island of Sicily dating back to the 18th century. It’s made from dried white grapes, is fortified and cask aged. It’s recognised for its golden amber colour and deliciously sweet, honeyed taste. There’s an attractive raisin and burnt sugar aroma, delicate dried fruits, almonds and a hint of liquorice. A traditional versatile dessert wine which can be served chilled on its own at the end of a meal or as an accompaniment to traditional Italian biscotti or sugared pastry desserts, Italian or as an ingredient in cooking.
